Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. Players primarily use their feet to control and move the ball, although they can also use other parts of their body except for their hands and arms, unless they are the goalkeeper.

Football is played on a rectangular field, commonly referred to as a pitch, which is usually grass or artificial turf. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and overseen globally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

Football is one of the most popular sports in the world, known for its passionate fan base and its significance in many cultures. Major international tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup, attract large audiences and highlight the sport’s global appeal. The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, making it a favored activity for millions of players and fans around the globe.
