VAR

VAR, short for Video Assisted Referee, is a technology used in sports, particularly in association football (soccer), to assist match officials in making accurate decisions. The system includes several cameras deployed around the stadium that capture various angles of the game. The VAR team, which consists of officials who have access to this video feed, reviews specific incidents during a match, such as goals, penalty decisions, red card situations, and mistaken identity. If the VAR team identifies a clear and obvious error, they can communicate with the on-field referee, who has the final decision-making authority. The use of VAR aims to reduce significant errors in officiating and enhance the fairness of the game.
